Default Knight T-bolt and BH 209

I have a knight t-bolt and decided to give BH209 a try though it. Several miss fires, of the 10 rounds I put through 6 were miss fires cci 209 primers wouldnt fit at all. Had to go with Wincherster and Rem primers, which with pyrodex pellets never had a miss fire. Just curious if anyone out there has had better luck with BH209 and the t-bolt rifle. It's a great stand by muzzle loader or if a friend needs to borrow. Not sure if the flash hole needs to opened up a smidge or what, or if it would even be worth it.

Thanks and good luck!!!

Your Knight T-bolt is a great rifle, It will take some major bolt work and breech plug modification to make it a BH209 SAFE rifle.

I own a Knight T-bolt and it was the first rifle I shot BH209 in, but it lead me to extensive mods of the bolt and firing pin, along with a extending the Breech plug with a grade 8 bolt and fitting it with a savage style vent line.

Your stock t-bolt is a slam fire and a great on at that! But it is not good at BH209 in its original state. The bolt does not hold the primer in the BP and the firing pin will pierce the cup of the primer allowing a great deal of fouling to blow back into the bolt making it unsafe with Black Horn 209. My rifle in its original state would start to hang fire from the firing pin hanging up in less than 10 shots. This was unsafe IMHO, there was so much fouling blowing back inside the bolt that the firing pin would hang up then all of sudden would push threw the carbon. This could happen several seconds after the trigger was pulled/ sear released.

I believe in the past I have posted photos of my modified bolt and Modified Breech plugs. If you do not have machining capabilities, then your T-Bolt should be left as cap fired gun. IMHO

IMHO to make it a SAFE BH209 rifle you will have to rebuild the face of the bolt to hold the primer tightly in the your extended BP and this bushing should have a small firing pin hole in it to alow your new smaller rounded face firing pin to fire the 209 primer. It is imperative IMHO that the primer be held firmly in place.

This is my 2 cents and MHO.
