Default Some new projectiles to try out

Buddy of mine sent me a small care package as a thank you and it came with some of the new traditions fullbore conicals " basically the same as the hornady FPB" Some 250 and 300gr Lehighs with red and orange sabots, fiocchi primers.

Im going to try these out in my new Optima after i try the 260 PT Golds in the MMP sabots Ray sent me to try out.

Be interesting to see how the heck these Fullbore conicals load. My first experience with the FPB wasn't fun at all LOL.

Since I have gotten 1/2 inch groups at 100 yds with the FPB I am interested in these new conicals. Would like a picture and other info such as weights etc.& price.

ok make that 2 guns i will try them out in. They were a tight SOB to start in my Wolf, hand hurts from wrapping on the short starter but after 5 solid hits it went down the muzzle. They certainly don't load easily thats for darn sure.

We'll see how they do with 100gr BH209 in the Optima and Wolf.

If you have trouble loading them drill a hole with a numbered drill in a 1/2 inch brass block that's 2 thousands larger than your bore then chamfer one side of the block with a good long angle and mount it in your vice and push the bullets through nose first and size them to fit your barrel.

I read somewhere that the FPB's are .503. My old Omega had a big bore for some unknown reason, and the FPB fit perfect and shot pretty good.

I wouldn't try them in any CVA.

My package of Traditions Fullbore arrived today. I pushed one down the bore of my Encore Bergara barrel. No short starter needed, loaded and went down with slight resistance. The area below the black line on the bullet is engraved with the rifling. I will try them out next week.

Shot them in my new optima with has a slightly larger bore than my other guns " requires a .501" Thor" this morning. One wack on the short starter and it was down the bore. No way of just being able to use the ramrod to push it down. Used 100gr BH209, CCI 209M primers and at 100 yards my first 2 shots were well under 3/4". My 3rd shot opened it up to a 3" group. Its already freakin burning up outside and i was having to wait 10 minutes in between shots just for the barrel to turn warm.

Maybe this LATE evening i will have better luck.

I did recover one bullet from today and it weighs 197 grains out of 300.
