Any body have any experience with them looking at the Bridges muzzleloader model?

He is a write I did a long time back:

Here is what I can tell you... I have one mounted on my White, fact just used it the other day (Testing Montana X in Idaho).

Quote:
Things I do not like about it.
For a scope it's size it is a bit heavy
The Eye Piece lens housing is bulky
The eye relief is a bit short for most - doesn't bother me though

Things i like
Optics are good
Reticule is good - although i do not use it as designed
Fast Focus - eye piece is great
It is well built - it seems very strong physically

Now another so-so part that worked out great. The first one I got had something loose in and would not hold a group. I called Hi-lux and asked for a RMA and to credit my CC as I was going to return it. Got the number from the nice lady and packed the darn thing up.

The next day a technichian for Hi-Lux called me and asked about the scope and it was doing. I explained that it held a pattern for 4 shots and then it started shooting them all over. I half expected him to question my ability to shoot, but know he said he was very familiar with the internals of the scope and was pretty sure he new exactly what was wrong and it was an easy fix. Then he really got applogetic about he was so disappointed it even got out of the factory that way. Next he said to provide him with an address and he would mail a new out that day. I declined thinking I did not even want to fuss with or ever worry about it again, besides I had a Leupold Ultimate Slam - I was going to put on it - did not tel him that though.

The next day the owner/manager of the US based portion called and expressed how disappointed he was that the scope had failed and that Quality Control even let it out. He talked to me several minutes about the internals of the scope and it rugid construction based on their highly successful Leatherwood ATR scopes for the military. By the time he got done with me - I said go ahead and send me and I would mail this one back - He did - I did and the replacement scope works great. And even if it were to fail - I know there is company that really wants to do right - so I am pretty much unconcerned.

if you have not been there - check the place out

Nevermind - i found it here...

Hunting season - well deer hunting is just around the corner and I really did not want to do it but I swapped out scopes on the U-Mag and installed one of Leatherwood's Hi-Lux 3x9x40 TBHPML scopes. This scope was developed in conjustion with Hi-Lux and Toby Bridges with a Ballistic Reticule calculated shooting a 250 grain bullet....

When I first looked at it I was not real thrilled because of the weight and the 3" eye relief - same things that UC pointed out to me when I sent him the specs. The thing that kinda drew to finally buying the thing was the price - really decent price through Toby's site.

Well anyway got out with the scope this morning.... not the best shooting conditions - the wind was blowing left to right across the farm fields rather strongly - but what the heck the wind might blow while I am hunting also... So set up everthing and went to work (if you can call it work)

The scope really worked well and the eye relief for me was closer to 4" than 3 inches. The scope has a very heavy cross bar from the edge of the scope - then down to a very fine cross hair in the center + the ballistic marks. The optics are really clean and clear and with the heavy to fine cross hairs should really work well in low light.

Anyway it worked well on the White and the White worked just as wel - like it always does...

I do not care for them I like a decent eye relief, I do a lot of hunting from a tree stand and taking a bad angle shot with a short eye relief can cause a damaged eye.

I got one. Thought it was bad but confimed it was not by putting it on another gun. It's sitting in the gunsafe. Has minor ring marks on it that could be sprayed over with flat black paint. $55.00 TYD if you want it.

Split the difference or aim 3" high.

I was interested in them to be honest. I had read Sabotloader's review and the first thing that got my interest was the short eye relief. Unfortunately the way I hold a rifle, if it does not have at least 3-1/2 or better eye relief. I end up getting kissed. I went to an Omega 3-9x40 by Nikon. What a sweet scope.

On the issue of eye relief. Seems to me it's a trade off between eye relief and field of view.

Take the Leatherwood 3-9x - only 3.25" eye relief but a pretty respectable 39' - 13' field of view at 100yds.

Take the Nikon Omega 3-9x - A whopping 5" of eye relief but only 25' - 8.4' field of view at 100yds.

Consider the Vortex Diamonback 3-9x - 3.5" - 3.3" eye relief and 44.6' - 14.8' field of view at 100yds.

Basically pick what you can live with.
