Gee we used to have fun popping firecrackers on the 4th, when we were kids. We popped firecrackers till they were gone, and then go to dad for money for more crackers, again and again. Today is over 80 degrees, but i wanted to pop something; since it was too hot to shoot paper, i did my favorite thing.
What i like to do is make video showing how the bullet takes time to travel from the rifle to the water jug. From the time the puff of smoke shows there are 11 pictures taken before the bullet hits the jug. The camera say it takes 30 frames/second. So i guess it takes 11/30 second for the bullet to travel from the rifle to the jug. If one watches the whole video, one can see the shooter get up, and walk to the truck. The brush is so high that it was hard to see the target when sitting on the trail, and the camera can't see the shooter sitting there.
The range is somewhere near 200 yard. The bullet was 300g Deep Curl; powder was 110g BH209. The top picture is the first frame taken after the bullet hits. The next picture shows the entrance hole through the exit hole, and the shredded top/bottom of the jug that accounts for the geyser shown in the first picture. The video file is too large, but that is because it takes the shooter so long to get to his feet.
