I am always anxious for deer season. However there is too much ML shooting to do prior to opening day

You know that I don't get excited until about two weeks before season. Then its madness.

Way too much shooting to do before hunting season. I for one am glad it isnt came yet. Have to put new and brighter lights in my garage for cutting up the deer, etc. Sight in my three main hunting rifles, .50 Triumph BC, .270 model six, and .450 Marlin. Also chronograph somethings. Buy another set of chains. OH man the list could go on and on. But as it always is when the list starts to shrink and there are only two things left it will be antelope season. Then I'm a hunting fool from Beginining of October thru End of Nov. Then finally I get to rest.

I'm the same way, cayugad. For the past two seasons I have had to work a lot during the bow season, so I don't get to bow hunt.

I take some vacation time during opening week for firearms in November (I use my muzzleloader, of course ). Usually a couple weeks before this time is when I get really fired up.

There's been a copule times so far this year that I've felt the itch. But then I look at everything that's going on right now and how far behind I am and I think there's no way I'm going to even have a chance to hunt this year. I'm sure once September rolls around I'll be counting down the days.

One thing i am kind of worried about in my colorado hunt ends the Sept. 20th and then my New mexico hunt starts Sept 24th LOL. I get a nice 2 day break after a 9 day Coloado hunt and then go straight to a 5 day hunt. AND THEN maybe an over the counter bull elk hunt in oct-nov area. Good thing i will have 2 guns and one of them scoped for new mexico. Makes things easier and ready to go.

That's an easy fix. Get your animal on the 1st day of your Colorado hunt.
