Default Oh man am i pumped!

Put in for area 57 in northern new mexico for mule deer during setp 24-30th muzzle loader season, and got it! My brother in law drew the same tag and so that means we'll get to hunt together.

I am pumped!

My new muzzle loader should be in friday, or monday and so once shes in, she'll get the normal treatment i give the new guns and then scope her and start working up loads.

I plan on using the 250gr Aerolite Powerbelt with 100gr Blackhorn209 but we will see how that goes.

My brother in law will use the 2010 CVA Wolf .50cal that i gave him last year. I may set him up with a 260gr Harvester PT Gold if i can get the sabots to work.

Congrats on the tag! Is this the legendary unit I've read about with a history of producing big bucks?

Just our of curiosity, what is the regular treatment you give new guns?

In my Wolf I used the 260gr PT Golds with 90grs BH209, CR sabot,CCI209 primers with great results. Give them a try.

Congratulations and good luck. Sounds exciting.

What is this new muzzleloader you have coming? A new model? Something that is already out on the market? A prototype? Just curious.

The new Optima with a thumbhole stock. I did order a black stock model but they said they discontinued the black stock, but they'd look for one. If not, they'll upgrade to a camo stock.

Yeah area 57 has some good bucks, however a land over screwed us over by leasing just enough land around the access roads to fully lock us out of an area where we hunted a lot. We're fighting it with the state right now and looking for others in new mexico to start emailing and calling to complain about them letting land owners do this about locking the hunters out of their own state land!

Normal treatment is 60-120 strokes of JB Bore paste, but most importantly, using some gun scrubber to blow out all the factory packing grease inside the trigger mech and get that spotless. I'll follow up with dyna tek bore coat and gun shield as well.

I can taste that buck already!

Grats on the N NM tag, that's trophy mule deer country. hunt high and hard in sept.target those out of the way water holes. the big boys won't go in till after dark,so set up on a trail 200-300 yds away leading to the water.. good luck Jon.... Ray

Congrats and good luck. We all know your MLs will do the part. Now all you need is to find a nice one and do your part. Let us know how you make out
