Default Zouave bullets

I have taken my zouave out a couple times now and I'm running into a problem which I think is a result of the minie I'm using. I'm using the 577611 minie over 70gr FFg and running a patch between shots it's wanting to stick the ramrod at the breech. I'm thinking with the thicker skirt it's leading the barrel more than a 575213 minie would. I haven't tried the 213's yet but that's my thinking. Has anyone else run into this between the 611 and the 213 minies?

I tried Minnies in a Zouave only once. The ones I had were too loose and accuracy was poor. I switched to patched balls and never looked at Minnies again.

The one I have has something around a 1-32" twist if I did the twist rate thing right. I don't believe it'll shoot RB's but I know if I can't figure it out soon I'm selling it.

AFAIK, it's recommended to use a minie that's .002 under bore size. That requires accurately measuring the bore and then sizing the bullets if necessary.

Hornady .58 saboted conicals are listed on Gunbroker and are also available from Natchez:

MMP also sells bulk .58 sabots for use with .45 bullets:
