Default Pro Hunter w/ .45 Encore Bergara barrel

Mission today was to shoot JSG Super powder but that is another thread. This barrel was aquired from a friend unfired and had the QLA cut off and recrowned by Mike Bellm. Groups were from just 50yds due to the rain but gives me great indication its a shooter. Hopefully the rain will move out and I can get some 100yd groups in tomorrow. I really like the 155gr General bullets. Scott, I still have the modded TAC's and will shoot them at 100yds. Sabotloader, I used your modifed plug for the JSG Super testing and it worked well. I pulled it and did not feel like cleaning so I put the factory plug in for these groups.

195gr Barnes MZ Harvester smooth sabot, 100gr BH209, Fed209A, 3 shot group

155gr General Copper Harvester smooth sabot, 100gr BH209, Win209, 3 shot group

Some here like 5 shot groups so I fired 2 more Generals for effect.

Darn tight at 50 yards. Time to stretch that distance and see if YOU can hold that group. Looks like the rifle will be able to.

I love shooting those 40-155gr TACs and Generals. Hardly any recoil and man they shoot good. I only added 30gr of pure lead just to see if i could and if it hurt accuracy. They seem to shoot just as good for me. Barnes REALLY needs to make a 180gr version.

I tried to see if General would make a heavier .40 cal bullet but no luck. I think a 185 would be ideal.

If you try going faster, i would really consider knurling them unless they are already really snug. Sabots still looked fine with more powder but groups began to open up for me after 105gr-110gr. I don't think i went much higher than that.

I forgot to mention, you really need to try the new Nosler 40-200gr JHP. Early testing is showing them to hold up pretty good and they shoot really well even at 2800fps from a SML. I will post a 300 yard impact pic at roughly 2800fps MV after i get to work.

Plus they are slightly cheaper than any other 200gr HP if you get a box of 250. I have high hopes for them in my tighter bore Original and a blue smooth sabot.

I am waiting to see some more accuracy testing with the Noslers before I buy 250. From my search it appears Nosler is the only place selling them right now. BTW, snowed last night and still spitting some out ATM. Looks like a good day to stay home and do nothing.

Grafs has them in stock or they did because they got me mine in a few days. $44/250 is a good deal if they are also a good hunting option.

I found the pic

I can dig up the accuracy pics if you wish.
