JSG "Super Powder" arrived

Well i bought two lbs from two different distributors and "visually" im fairly impressed compared to other APP/JSG powders ive seen.

Both are fairly uniform and smaller than common 2FG sizes. Its even a bit small for 3FG IMO. Both are a bit darker in color than older APP products. I didn't pour it all out for inspection but i did turn it upside down and shake it to make the "dust" come to the top. I didn't find hardly any dust after more inspection. This second bottle did have a slight "brown sugar" smell but my first bottle did not.

So far so good. I sure hope its at least a good plinking powder for the 45cals. It sure beats the heck out of trying to pour the old "kitty litter" from a spout.

Tonight i will weigh some 60gr loads and see how they compare to volumetric inspection. IMO powder column size is important to insure proper witness marks also.

Do they give any information as to max loads or velocities ?
Will you be checking velocities with a chronograph?

No load data other than no bullets over 250gr and no charges over 100gr by volume.

Im not sure how soon i can chrono the powder but two other members are receiving some too for testing and they have chronos ready to go.

This is the only data they claim on their website.

I can't even imagine, why they put a bullet weight restriction on this powder. we all know it's not nitro based, since they still claim water clean up.Ray

And it looks like it still weighs about 82grW=100grV. (similar to the original stuff) Im going to confirm it tonight on my scale. Another member just got his and the APP rep said 60grW would equal 100grV.

Im going to check the patent if i can and see if i can find the MDS. There may be a clue hiding there as what is different vs the old powder

My digital scale says the batteries are low and turns itself off. Im charging them now although i think it might be defective.

If that fails i will dig out my beam scale.

I measured out a dozen 100grV loads in a Knight brand 150gr volume measure. They ran from 80-82grW taking a lot of care to keep it consistent by volume.

Thats a far cry from the rep that said it was about 60grW=100grV. Very close to the old powder weight too.

yep my measure throws them at 83 grains for the 2f american pioneer stuff.

My average weight for ten measured charges of Goex Pinnacle 3F is 82.4 grains.

I can't help but think that after all the other flops APP has had for powder that this will be anything different. I hope it's not. I would love to see some competition for BH209 but I can't see it coming from APP.
