Default 90 VS 100gr BH209

I shot this last week and finally got the pics off the camera. I wanted to try the 90gr loads bcuz i kept having trouble with the 100gr load but figured out that i just wasnt allowing enough cool down time. The 100gr 4 shot group was a winner for me.

i am throwing them out in the yard! Right into my sand buckets!! You should see the lead stock i have! LOL.

I have some 260 PT gold's coming in. After seeing the MAX pictures of the bullets i said, BS! Theres no way they explode like that. I am going to do some testing of my own.

T.B. did a lot of testing and actual taking of deer with them.he eventually went to the .300 gr PT for all his hunting due to the outstanding B.C. and terminal performance. when using 110 gr BH209 there was very little FPS change between the .260 and .300 gr.i saw that article on max muzzleloading also.let us know how they perform.. i still may try the .300gr. Don't the PB's explode with high charges at close ranges?

Maybe that's what Max did with the PT Golds? Although I still don't believe they did that.

PB's and other lighter weight all lead bullets can at close range with a hot load. that's why i like the full bore heavy weight conicals, if your going to use pure lead. the PT gold have a copper electro plated copper jacket. Ray

I understand that, but I have to wonder why the PT Gold exploded for Max.

I just sent an e-mail to Russell about his PT Gold test. Lets see what he has to say.

I need to get this settled in my mind. I won't hunt with a bullet that has a chance of blowing up. That's why I won't shoot Powerbelts.

I know a Barnes/Thor won't blow up.

I wouldn't even bother with the PT Gold except from positive reports i've read, and it loads perfect in my gun. I'm assuming it will be accurate in my gun. I'm waiting for my order of 50. We'll see how accurate they are then. If they aren't it won't matter if they blow up or not.

Muley Hunter,

The Barnes 250-300gr MZ's in a crushed rib will load great in your Omega. They are an accurate bullet. I really do not think you have anything to worry about using the 300gr PT's though.

If I don't use the PT Gold, i'll probably go with Thors if the 300gr fit a bit tighter. Terry is sending me some. If they don't fit tighter i'll go with the Barnes. Not sure about the boat tail though. I've heard the flat bottom T-EZ shoot better with the CR sabots.

I'll be glad when I get this worked out, so I can concentrate on hunting instead of bullets.
