Default 2nd Time Shooting .54 Renegade

Was able to get out this morning and shoot the Renegade. Moved the target out to 50 yards. I would like to eventually have this gun sighted in at 100 yards. So each time I'll move it out 25 yards. This first three shots were with .10 thick patch lubed with TC Bore Butter. I was all over the place. Deceided to try .20 patches. They were alittle tight but as you can see my groups shrunk alot. The left and right issue was me adjusting the scope. I'm alittle high, but I think at 75 yards it will be dead on and a little low at 100 yards. Still only using 80 grains of Pyrodex. I really don't know If i need to increase the charge. For alittle fun I placed a FROZEN milk jug at 50 yards. Not only did the round ball blow right through the jug, but turned the soild ice into crushed ice. So far been impressed with it. Still trying to figure out a better way to clean the barrel with less of a water mess.

Congrats on the new toy!!!!! You will come to find they are alot of fun. As far as the clean up, get rid of the Pyrodex and go to Triple 7 powder and you will be very happy at the change over. Many others will recommend other powders that are much cleaner than traditional pyrodex also. I as well have a Renegade in 54 cal and I shoot 200 grn R.E.A.L (Rifling Engraved At Loading) bullets and they really shoot well in my weapon. I shot 50grns for target shooting and 100 grns for hunting.

80grs is about all you will be able to burn in that short barrel...It's also plenty for deer...Get your hands on some .015 or .018 ticking and you should be about right...

I've got my .54 set at 2 inches high at 50 so she is about dead on at 75 and 2 inches low at 100...I'm using 80grs of FFF Goex...

My .54 Renegade shoots best with 85-90 grains of Pyrodex RS. I use moose milk for a lube. As for the patch I use a pillow tick .018 and it works great.

My renegade likes 90 grains 2F black powder, .015 patch and .530 round ball. Open sights at a 100 yards is a 4" group and 2" at 50 yards.
