Default 54 Mountain Stalker - Blackhorn209

Took her out to 50 yards with 70gr BH209, cci 209 m primers and 295gr powerbelts. Elevation is perfect but shooting a touch to the right.

Accuracy was around 1.5" for a 3 shot group.

Made me happy as heck to see that kind of group the first time out

Measuring out some 80gr charges and we'll see if that tightens her up a bit.

Don't worry, i'll have pics later on for you guys.

hmmmm interesting. I had a hang fire on shot 3 with the 80gr bh209 charge and so i brought it inside to see what could have caused it, grabbed the little tool to remove the mag spark adapter and to my surprise, the entire first half was blown off and missing!

7 damn shots and this mother blew apart! Luckily i will be able to get the adapter out of the threads. Boy come monday morning! Someones ears are going to be burning before i even wake up to make the phone call.

Found the other part aprox 2-3 feet in front of the barrel!

Heres some pics. This is nothing but poor quality stainless steel for this to happen. The metal is way to damn thin in the area where it blew out.

Bad news for sure. Do you think maybe a sidelock is a sidelock, with well known limitations?

the rifles style wasnt the problem, it was the products materials that failed due to thin metal.

Or possibly using a progressively burning powder which was never meant for drum & nipple applications. I've never heard of one of those things failing with other subs.

I'm sorry it didn't work for you, but I sort of knew it wouldn't.

I know you love BH 209, but it's really better for the inlines.

Put some real BP in your sidelocks and enjoy the stink.
