Default Got 'em Back

Drove up to Rosalia today, to the gun smith, to pick up my thumb holes stocks. I had Dave inlet the recoil lug area so that a Elite would drop into an Extreme stock.

I had never really seen a milling machine and table work before for inletting a stock. It certainly did it better than i would have with a Demral tool.

I have come to really like thumb holes stocks, never thought I would. I really like them off the bench but I did not think I would like them for hunting but all of that has changed now. They are really comfortable and seem much more stable for me.

Since there were not any thumb hole stocks built for the Elite series, anyway none that I know off, the next best thing was to alter the Extreme Thumb Hole... Here they are with a couple of DISC Elites mounted in them. In these stocks the barrels really do not float they fit in the barrel track surface to surface and are very accurate that way.

Very nice looking.......Give Filmdipper a plug....which codes are those 2 stocks. They both are great patterns but I favor the bottom one.

Top gun is Winter Camo #266
Bottom is Next G1 Vista #298

The bottom one is the normal hunting gun I will use for Whitetail. DISC Elite 45 cal shooting 110 grains T7-2f - HPH-24 sabot and a Lehigh .40/200 grain. But I am telling you the Spreer .40/180 is 'Holy Cow' accurate out of this gun...

The bottom one is a DISC Elite -45 cal and will spend the most time in the woods. It is the whitetail gun

The one on top is for late season (December) elk hunting. Although I used that stock this season on a different rifle most of the season

very nice indeed. I do believe the thumb hole stock puts your shooting hand in a more natural position. My problem is being a lefty is that I can't find one for my rifles. About the closest thing I can come to is the Optima stock or the Encore.
