Default Mag Spark Adapter

Just ordered on today for my 54 cva mountain stalker. I got a handful packages of the 295gr Powerbelts so thats going to be the first gun that gets the Blackhorn209 - Mag spark treatment!

This should be fun to see how well it works out.

Do you really think it will consistently ignite BH 209 in a sidelock? if it does ,sounds like fun

toby bridges say it works without a hitch so when i get the kit, i'll take the package to the shooting range, along with the video camera and see if it works right out of the box or if you'd have to enlarge the flash channel.

If it works, i am going to be one heck of a happy camper.

That is a pretty cool concept and I like the idea. But I can see a few problems and areas for improvement already. They should have some means to connect the upper and lower sections together when separated. I bet that cap would be tough to find if you dropped it in the snow. Maybe instead of threads, a quick connect system would have been better.

I guess my biggest concern would be how blackhorn seems to build up in a breechplug. It has to be drilled out, they even show a hand drill on the website . With a removable breechplug that isn't a problem. It might be a problem with a sidelock that doesn't have a removable breechplug, even if it does have a cleanout screw on the side like most do. just a thought on how good you could actually clean the fire channel

Out of the blue.... that is a real valid point. Using the Mag Spark Adapter and BH certainly could lead to a real problem in the fact that 'HARD' carbon could build up in the flash channel to the powder. Worst part the 90* turn the flash has to take would offer another deposit point...

In my 54 barrel & breech, i have the dyna tek bore coat inside. I'll shoot and see what happens and see about cleaning it out the best way. CVA's use a pretty big powder channel VS Lyman - TC so it may not even be a problem.

i always wondered if they still were available. i bought them years ago for my cva and thompson sidelocks.for my hunting needs i just didnt see a practicle need for it. just something to play around with. back then i switched to black mag3 powder. the ignition time was fast and crisp so the mag sparks been sitting in my muzzy box.just hope black mag3 comes back on the market.
