Default rust tests

i have 6 donated barrels coming in for lube testing that i want to do.

What do you think the best way is the test lubes in bores against rust?

Clean them, lube them, set them in the shop?

I have heard lots of good things about the eezox. I would think you would want to test them under high moisture situations.

Yeah, that Rig looks like good stuff. I use XF7 for lubricant, but I have heard it is an awesome rust preventative as well. I have not torture tested anything with it, but I've never had a speck of rust on anything I use it on.

Curious, MD...with you being such a huge proponent of Bore Coat, why bother with this?

for others that prefer to use lubes. I plan on doing some side by side testing with bore coat as well. even a salt bath.

Didn't someone on this forum do this a couple of years ago? I was thinking I remembered someone doing a similar test.

yeah on steel plates though. I want to use actual barrel material for the best results.

Introduce moisture with a humid box kind of? i know when i brown barrels i turn on the heat in the bath room. turn the shower on and let the heat and humidity speed up the rusting the laurel mountain forge browning solution.
