Default Thompson Center Cougar hawkins

Ok guys I need your help, I picked up a .50 cal TC Hawkins cougar today at an estate sale for 20 bucks. any good bad or other info about this rifle would be greatly appreciated. It appears it very good condition overall, the only bad thing I have found is the stock has a hairline crack at the wrist, what do you think the chances are of TC having a stock to fit it... thanks for your help in advance

I got a cougar. Does it have the emblem in the stock? $20 dollars is an awesome deal. I also got mine at an estate auction.

Good shooter. I hate the trigger. Done all I can do to take up the creep.

Here's a picture of mine. I doubt you can get much from t/C. Had trouble getting the wedge and ramrod.

That was an awesome price. I can't find one for less than $500 and I've been looking for years. I did get 1 of 500 T/C Hawken Silver Elite that is basically the same rifle with the fancy walnut stock and stainless hardware except for the Cougar logo. I paid $350 for that one. I have the blued barrel oiled up and stored in my safe and got a SS Green Mtn LRH barrel for it. Looks real sharp.
So you got a great deal.

That would have been a great deal at 10x that price. Something like that makes me think that maybe my next gun after the Pro Hunter might have to be a little more traditional. Great find.

I doubt if they have any of the cougar stocks. I thought they had a better grade wood? As for the crack, take it to a person that builds rifles and have then check it. Might be a simple fix. For what you have invested in the rifle, you sure could not complain if it cost you a couple dollars to fix that stock.

A very nice find.

I'll give you $40 right now. You can double your money and not have to worry about the crack.
