Default Stick me with a fork...

As you may well know I've been working for some time now on thecombo. attention so I soaked it in the Evapo-Rust over night and blued it again today. It looks pretty good so I guess I'll put the Renegade story to rest also.
BUT FIRST!
A couple of pictures of the blueing job I did today.
BANG!

You sure got that right! It's supposed to be in the low 50's on my day off next week. If the report holds up it should be great shooting weather. All of my rifles are .50 cal. except the renegade. I was given a few .54 cal. round balls (5) with the gun when I bought it so I guess I'll have to round something up to shoot out of it.
Hey Corey, What have you got I can shoot out of a .54?

Looks good. I can't wait for the weekend either. I hope to get out too if my truck gets fixed. Its in the garage now trying to find a leak. I don't think the wife's Sebring convertible will make it thru the ice and snow to my shooting spot.

I would highly doubt it. From the pictures it looks like a standard Renegade. If you think about it; if the barrel was cut and recrowned, the thimbles would all have to be re drilled and tapped. You could take the thimbles off and see if there are holes or if it looks like some holes were filled. But i just doubt it. They would have to redrill four holes. Seems like a lot of work for a already short barrel.

But the barrel is only 23.25 inches long and there is only one thimble. If I try to put the thimble where the last screw is at the muzzle, it sticks out past the muzzle.
Plus, I believe the front sight would have to been removed and replaced. And that would mean cutting a new dove tail slot for it. There is damage to the barrel by the front sight in the form of small dents, from someone apparently pounding in the front sight carelessly.
