Default long night of work

I am planning to head to the range, plans are to shoot my CVA 50cal hawken, with wheel weight ball and my Knight usak with the 260gr 452's with mmp hph 24's sabots, I have 50 charges made up, 25 Goex 2f and 25 t7 2f.

started out, pulling out both my hawkens, last time i took my 50cal out I had an problem with the lock that i must of fixed and forgot about. so it is ready. next up was the 54cal hawken minus the lock, it was at FG's repair shop having an new main spring and hammer put on.

next thing I did was to make sure I had enough patches, both shooting and cleaning. since I just made some fresh shooting patches, I prefer precutting them for the ease. I cut in to 1 by 1 squires, this was an new lube I was trying, high wax content, but I will be using the other pre lubed patches I had for this session.

then to the cleaning patches, I was low on presoaked patches and dry, looked around out of my favorite. match grade 30cals and my second, outers muzzleloader round patches, all I had was tee shirt type, and fabrics I found on sale I been using to clean. I don't mind them for swabbing the barrel with liquids but not for an dry patch. I been using Flower sack towels for my casting and just bought an new set of 5. so I pulled one out and cut them down for dry patches. just for chits and giggles, I measured on. .011 to .015, depending on if I hit an small fold. Thin shooting patch possibility?

finally to the charges. well we could guess how long that will take, I am finally down to my last pound of t7 2f I bought on walmart clearance 2 YEARS AGO.

2 dang hours of getting ready. no wonder I started to plan an week in advance for ranges sessions now lol

Well Corey, it sounds like you're ready to make a lot of smoke. Preparing for a shoot is an enjoyable way to spend a few hours.

well when you get back, you'll get to read about how well your 260 custom cast bullets shot for me today. So good in fact, that i am reloading my supplies and bringing my shooting bag out to 100 yards with 7" of snow on the ground!

Well i am having a great day with the 260's in my Optima. I thought i had been shooting 100gr BH209 but ended up having to shoot a lighter 90gr charge. I guess thats what i get for loading up a week earlier and not marking the tubes.
