Default Interesting results with BH209 and PRB

Shot some .495 round ball out of my Triumph using 50 and 60 grs of BH209. Respectable 1 1/2 - 2" groups @ 50 yards, until after about 7-8 shots. Then groups opened up to 5 - 6"s. What happened? The PRB's didn't like the fouled barrel. After cleaning groups settled down again.

Not something anyone would normally shot, but just needed to try. My guess, patch lube and BH209 fouling don't jive. Not what I expected, considering sabot loads tend to shot tighter with a fouled bore and BH209.

So, no advantage over really Black Powder here!

My guess is that the patch couldn't grip the rifling and impart spin on the ball...Dedicated round ball barrels have deeper cut rifling, usually .012-.015 deep...Inlines will have more shallow button rifling...In addition, a round ball gun will be rifled 1-66 or so for a .50 caliber, not 1-28...

Yah, I'm well aware of the differences. I'm just hacking around!
