Default Cotton bore swab

I am new to muzzleloading, just got my first rifle for Christmas. I was wondering, Could you use a cotton bore brush/swab to scrub the barrel when cleaning with soap and water? Seems like you could put soap soap on the brush and put the barrel in the water. Nothing I have read mentioned doing anything like this.

I think you've gotten yourself in way over your head with this new muzzleloader. I don't believe you realized all that is involved in upkeep, cleaning, loading, sighting in, powders, bullets, and on, and on, and on. So if you post a picture with a brief description of the rifle and a fair asking price I will consider making you an offer for it. Just kidding. Congratulations on your receiving a new muzzleloader and good luck with your new hobby. I'm sure you're going to love it.
