Default Hoppes 50/54 cal Bore Snake - anyone tried in lieu of patches?

Have any of you ever tried the 50/54 cal boresnake in lieu of patches? Seems like it would take less time if using a powder that requires cleaning after every shot.

Nylon bore brush, patches and a mop would cover about everything.

Not sure about "in leu of" patches, but my last range session using T7 I wet patched with windex at the range ( 5 or 6 ) until they came out clean. At home pulled the breech plug, sprayed windex down the bore (breech end), ran the bore snake through twice, followed up with a oil patch... done!

I use snakes all the time to run through the bore. I will in my case get the worst of the fouling out with windex patches (for T7) or a bore cleaner for BH and then use the snake to polish and dry.

When I put the gun away for a long period of time I still clean it the old fashioned way...

I used them ALL the time. Pistol, Rifle and Muzzey...LOVE THEM. I have 2 I use with the inline. I still use one windex patch first because the snake will get dirty pretty quik. But if you wash them out after a day at the range so they are ready for the next time they make cleaning a snap.
