Default Which barrel?

I've been working on it for quite some time, and I've come pretty close to getting a new gun but something always comes up and it doesn't quite happen. That said, I finally got permission to get one this spring. Not counting something I can't live without from Knight, I'm thinking I'm going to get a Pro Hunter. The problem is that I can't decide if I want a regular Pro Hunter, or if I want to buy the frame and then get one of the Katahdin barrels. I like the idea of a 20" barrel and it would be great for still hunting. I don't know how many times this year I thought it would be nice to have a barrel that was a few inches shorter. But is 20" too short? What do you think? It looks like it will cost about the same either way.

Short barrels are nice for small tree stands and just still hunting in the woods. But in all fairness, I have used much longer barrels and found them to be just as good.

I guess you'd have to consider balance, and what kind of load you are going to shoot. I never shot a Pro Hunter or one of them barrels you are talking about. But it sounds like it would make a nice rifle. Plus you can always buy the other barrel down the road... right?

That's kind of the way I'm leaning. That short of a gun in a ground blind would be very convenient. Just not sure. Any idea how that short of a barrel would effect velocity. I know it would drop it some, but don't know by how much.

Short barrels are loud. If you don't wear hearing protection while hunting, I'd shy away. My buddy has the Pro Hunter it's pretty compact as is. The Triumph is lighter.
