The only round ball sabot I know of was discontinued years age because it caused so many accidents it was consider dangerous.
My advice : if you do see any don't try to use them. They don't hold on to the ball and if you shoot the gun when it is half way down the barrel it is an obstructed barrel and will at best ruin the barrel at worst somebody would get hurt.
I have seen them. I don't need to take the chance with them. A simple patched ball works much better IMO.

Pluckit, the guys are referring to a problem with the old "poly patch" that was on the market many years ago.
It wasn't actually a sabot because it did not have petals that enclosed the ball. It had a rear cup like a sabot, but the front was a simple dish that fit the rear of the ball but did not enclose it. The ball could very easily move forward in the barrel creating an obstruction situation. The ball sabot in your picture would not seem to have that problem because the petals between the side of the ball and the barrel should hold the ball in place quite well - just like a sabotted bullet.

Yep, big difference. I had a bunch of the yellow ez glide sabots laying around one day so I grabbed them and some .454 round balls from my revolver and tried them. Very decent accuracy. Enough to squirrel hunt with-which was all I was looking for.

I've seen those and I think I used to have some. I remember hearing of or reading about the warnings about them. Since I haven't seen anything about these sabots on this site I thought you guys might find them interesting. Plus, it was just another reason to use my new found ability to post pictures here. And to use my new camera I got for Christmas.
Hey Pluckit, I bought a bag of these and not yet used them in my guns. They are different then what Lee and Dave are talking about I think. Mine are just like yours and have pedals that surround the ball.
I still wish someone with any experience with them will reply and give us a heads up.
