Default Not a bad afternoon

Well this was the last chance for the wife and me to put some meat in the freezer and we both had success . Yesterday afternoon had a big fat doe come sneaking through a thicket on me. She was real spooky acting to, I was down wind so she couldn't smell me. She stopped between 2 trees and I had about a 4 inch gap to shoot through at 45 yards. I was using my White g-series with a 370gr TC maxi ball under 100gr of P, I know all old technology, but this rifle shoot this load extremely tight. The shot entered a bit high and forward on the shoulder, but this is all I had to shoot at. She took off carry her left front leg, I could tell she was hit hard. Heard her crash and the blood trail was profuse, no problem tracking this one. She ran no more than 50 yards before giving up the ghost. The wife shot a button buck at 25 yards facing her. She was shooting my optima elite with 100gr of T7 and a 250gr bonded shock wave. Her deer just folded up right where he was. Its been a tough season, but we finally managed to put some meat in the freezer. The follow pics are from the doe I shot, her button is the one laying on the floor.

It's a Good Feeling to have Meat in the Freezer, especially with what's to come in the New Year with Food Prices.
I added a extra Deer to My usuall take this year to go with the Vegetables I Canned and also Froze. It also taste much better when it was taken with a MLer.
Congrat's!

BP I grow a big garden to. We put up a lot of corn, green bean, peas and okra. Nothing like veggies out of the garden.

Yep, I agree. We also cut our own Wood from our Woods to Heat with, No Gas for us, to dang expensive. Gas Bills here up North can run from $300-$500 a Month. I have much better things to spend My Money on then food from the Store and Natural Gas from the Utility Companies. But as a tight wad as I am I still need Electric, I have'nt figured out that one yet

Its about the only way i will eat Okra. My friend likes to put fresh deer liver in his just for the flavor it adds.

Big hunks of slow moving lead are still a proven killer and much cheaper. I used mostly Maxis and Barnes in my old ThunderHawk. I really couldnt see much of a difference in performance at most ranges.

Congrats on the harvest and enjoy the chili, its my favorite.
