After Reading Cayugad's post

It got me thinking after reading Cayugad's post on a White Christmas. I am getting a barrel reamed and having a 1:28 twist put in it. I am thinking that maybe a 1:24 twist might be better for shooting the 300 gr SWs and XTPs out of.
Give me you thoughts.

I think I would go with the 1:24. It would give you a heavier bullet option. What about depth of rifling? Do you have an option there? What is the depth on the Whites?

The ideal length of a bullet at 1800 fps is:
1 in 28 =1.05 inch long
1 in 24 =1.25 inch. long

PS: the weight has no effect on stabilization, but the caliber does this is for 45.
caliber bullets, the sabot has no effect on stabilization either.

The Whites have groove depth of about .003 to .0035".

Lee, I wouldn't get too carried away with that Greenhill stuff - seems to be a pretty poor indicator of bullet performance in my rifles. At best, it's a SWAG anyway.

Underclocked... do you have any idea of the groove depth in say an Accura or a Omega? I have always been curious in the correlation of groove depth to conical shooting ability.
