Default Stuck Hammer Screw

I've posted before that I have to replace the fly in my Cherry Corners lock. The hammer screw won't budge. I have to get it off to get to the fly.

I've been soaking it in PB Blaster for a week, still won't move.
I've use a hammer to tap it, still nothing.
Someone suggested an impact driver, but I'm afraid it'll rip out the slot in the screw.

My next step is applying a pencil butane torch to the screw, but I'm worried about the temper.

Any thoughts.

You may need a gunsmith for this one. Better safe than sorry later.

Thom, when you try to remove the hammer screw are you securing the lock in a vise, or holding it in one hand while you apply the screwdriver with the other hand? You really need to put the lock in a vice and use two hands on the screwdriver to push down and turn with force.

Are you sure it is not a left hand thread?

Yep, I've had it in a vise. I also ground the tip of a large screwdriver to fit exactly in the slot of the screw.

No, I just assumed it would unscrew like the hammer screw on my T/C Hawken.
Has anyone experienced a "left hand threaded screw" on a hammer?
