Default Any Machinists Out There? Gotta make a Sear.

You folks may have seen some of my earlier posts about my Hawken that was finally Identified as an Ithaca Hawken rifle with a Cherry Corners Gun Shop lock and trigger.

So far I haven't found any parts that work to replace the sear and the fly, so it looks like I gotta make 'em.

I'm just not sure what the temper of the steel should be.

I've made parts for other things that needed to be tempered, by getting it cherry hot and plunging the steel in oil.

I don't know if this will work for the lock parts.

That's works pretty well. But you'll likely get better results with Kasenit compound.

Dixie was my first stop. I've also contacted Greg at Track of the Wolf and Doc White.

There may be parts out there somewhere but so far, no luck.

Will these work? Not sure but keep an eye out on auctions or go see a good gunsmith. Unfortunately good ol guns need parts that are made. You may try posting your info on this great site I frequent if you already had not. If you cannot get help here your stuck. Just click on the forum and you can browse around.
