Default HELP ASAP - What Primer for TC BC Triumph w/ BH209 - Confused about Remington Primers

I need your help ASAP as I am heading to range tomorrow morning and only time I have. So I got my TC BC Triumph yesterday, mounted scope and went to Cabelas and got everything (I thought ) I needed. I researched the heck of out of everything and read that remington klean bore primers were the way to go. Well I just read on here that apparently BH209 and Reminton Klean Bore may not go so well together. I read conflicting possts about accuracy of certain primers, some too hot some not, some too long, etc.

Can someone please help me ASAP? Thanks

The Kleanbore primers are pobably not the way to go... The Remington STS primers should work very well. Next choice might be a CCI-209M

Another thing to take with is a 1/8" drill bit so you can clean the flash channel in the breech plug every 7-10 shots - I may and probably will carbon up...

I just inserted the bit in a piece of dowel to make it easier to turn...

First of all, you need to clean the heck out of that barrel. I bet you will hate loading that new gun to start. After a really good cleaning and a few patches of JB bore paste you will love it.

As far as the primers in your hurry situation i would only buy Federal 209A or CCi 209M primers. With those two primers you should be able to shoot at the range, and go hunting before you need to drill it out like sabotloader explained. Of course with the Triumph speed breech, cleaning only takes a few minutes to be safe.

Cabelas only has remington 209 sts and federal 209a - would you still go with fed 209a instead of remington sts? At cabelas now. Thanks

Fed 209A is your best bet.

Thanks guys - I got a box of the Fed209A and a box of the Remington STS. The Fed209a appeasr to burn considerably hotter than most - will that be an issue?

I also got a jar of JB Bore Compund (I hope that is the same thing as "JB Bore Paste" as Grouse aluded to).

It was a close call - glad Cabelas is 10 miles from the house (the range is 50 miles). Would have been a long morning after I figured out the primers sucked.

Thanks again and keep the primer issue going as I just dont want to screw up anything on this gun.

Sabbotloader - I got a box of the Remingfton STS and Fed209a.....Do you have the same kinda gun I have and have you shot both primers with BH? If so let me know what you discovered (Or anyone else).

Will a 1/8 inch bit automaticall fit or do I have to drill it out? I am not to keen on drilling on something that is new and ESPECIALLY something that could be dangerous.

Thank you for the tips and keep the advice coming.

No hey the drill bit is to just clear the Flash Channel out where the primer goes in Never Drill out the hole, the flash channel is about 1/8th inch just use the bit by hand it's just cleans the carbon build up you are not Drilling it with a Power Drill or making the hole Bigger. In other Words after you shoot a few times carbon builds up in the flash channel, and you use a 1/8 inch drill bit by hand twisting it in the flash channel to remove the carbon.
