Default saturdays Doe hunt

i started my day trying to to still hunt my way to camp but the snow was loud underfoot and the wind switched to my back, one hour and 600yds later found me at camp with friend(and property owner)showing up.the wind was now blowing harder so we did what any good hunter would do,we went to breakfast.we got back to camp @10:30 with the sun peeking out at times, the wind all but gone and a balmy 32*.up to differant stands we go.soon after i catch a glimpse of a deer 150yds out, great, the deer are out and moving.shortly after i see movement again but this time only 60yds out and coming towards a clearing.up comes the gun to scope him out.well it's just a little one but i still want to shoot.
i got'em,but it took alot of shots with my camera to focus on the deer and not the tree i was shootin thru.this pic shows what i hunt in most of the time and why i've scoped most of my guns.my eyes just can't pick up the branches to good anymore.my friend shows up and asks if i saw the big 8pt that walked within 50yds of my stand.nope, i was to busy watchin the little one sun himself.he also tells me he watched two does an 8pt another doe then a large bodied small rack buck followed by another doe on a quick walk out of the pines to state land only 40yds from him broadside! knowing he hasn't filled his buck tag yet i ask why he didn't shoot,he says it was just pure enjoyment watching the procession and wondering what was coming out next.it's 2:00 now and i'm thinking these deer will be coming back to the safety of the pines so i beat feet to the stateland border 800yds away where i still have a climbing stand.i only climb up 10ft so i can see over the brush.45min before sunset(the end of shooting time in NY)i'm rewarded with appearing/disappearing deer slowly heading my way.15 min before sunset the lead doe gives me an opportunity with a higher than i usually like to shoot lung shot@55yds but still a double lung.the .45 knight super disc(lehigh conversion) loaded with 110g vol.BH209 200g sst sitting in a smooth blue harvester ignited by W209 barks.the doe shudders for a micro second and then is off and running.she makes about 60 yds and i hear the crash.down the tree i go,on the ground i reload and light up a smoke.i make my way thru the knee deep snow to cut tracks about 20yds past the shot and am happy to see a very fine red mist in the snow.the 4ft wide light mist continues for another 20yds then turns real heavy.20yds more i find my reward

Congratulations.. I really enjoyed your story and pictures. That is a nice doe. Lots of good meals there. And your blood trail and snow is excellent.
