Tried the 225 grain Barnes XPB pistol bullet at the range today: These are the .429 bullets. Wanted to take my TC Black Diamond but remembered that it is not registered with the Ft. Sill police.
Distance 50 meters +18" i call it 55 yards.
Gun: CVA StagHorn
Scope: Weaver 3X10X42 Grand Slam set on 4X
Powder: 100 grains of 3F Pinnacle
Bullet: Barnes 225 grain .429 XPB
Sabot: Crush rib
Primer: Winc. 209
The gun was loaded in late October with 100 grains of 3F Pinnacle and the Hornady 240 grain .430 bullet in a crush rib sabot. That bullet impacted two inches below the bullseye. Reloaded and fired the XPB bullet using the same powder charge: It hit the bull.
Swabbed the bore, went to another target and fired a three shot group without swabbing. Had a good group going there until i blew it on the third shot. Packed up my stuff and went home.
BTW: These bullets are the very best kind: Free from Cabela's.
Sooeeeee, here piggy, piggy.
