Default more casting fun

casting up .490 out of wheel weight lead. heard good things about that set up.

also some bullets out of an lee 252-255 2rf mold, dropping at 258gr to 260gr keepers. diameter of .2515
254g to 256gr rejects but perfect bullets.

going to try this out of sabots, mmp or harvester. only have knight sabots right now.

That Lee conical with the big meplat may be a good hunting bullet Corey. I'm looking forward to a range report with it.

Casting is something I want to get into during mid to late winter. Keep up the good work Corey.

Be careful---casting is highly addictive.

Next thing you need is a good conical mold. Then you can pour bullets that people charge close to a buck for-for nothing-if you use WW.

Don't listen to all the nay sayers about WW. I have been shooting WW in MZ's for years. Pure lead works great also, but it is alot cheaper to shoot WW.

All you need now is a good used sizer. They are out there so shop around. Tom.

already have 2 sizers, an .454 that is the size I need for my .45 cal. and an .451 for saboted rounds, not counting if my friend that owns an 1911 wants me to start loading for him.

tom,
I will one up you, range lead, cost of power and gas to smelt and cast.

as for my round balls, it is an 4to1 reject rate.

going to the range tomorrow full winter hunting gear.

Corey, good looking castings, your Knight sabots are the thickest in the pedal area I have found. your .451 sizer should work well with the knight sabots. I run all of my boolitz threw a .452 lee sizer, when I pluck them from the water drop bath. It has been my experience that the Harvester sabot is the most consistent in in giving repeatable load pressure on a sized .452 smooth sided cast boolit. I have not been able to get the same results with projectiles with lube grooves.

I believe they will shoot/work great for you, My cast boolitz are shot from both smokeless and BH209 guns. I have a Nephew that will be shooting them from a 1x48 twist side lock with 80 gr of AP 2F with used (once fired, picked up)Harvester sabots. They shoot minet of deer ( or should I say minet of frozen Crap pile out of my brothers shooting window)and he is Syked!

Go for it!
