Talking chalk one up for Ron's BP and BH209!

I got the chance to put the hurtin's on momma doe this morning. I saw her coming through the woods and I got ready to shoot. Then she decided to bed down about 90 yards from me in some brush. Great. Well long story short, I waited her out and got a shot at 75 when she got up and walked around 2 hours later. 90gr BH209/250gr SST Low-Drag/STS primer out of my Optima Elite with Ron Laughlin's custom BP. I put it right in the boiler room and she didn't go far. The SST hit right where I aimed but once again, even with a heart shot, I didn't get much of a blood trail. *guess it doesn't matter when you see 'em go down*

Thanks Ron! (I'd send you a backstrap if I could fit it in an envelope!)

That is so very kind of you. We have had good fortune this season, and also have some back strap in our freezer.

That's the way to wait out the deer, and end up with meat! Two hours must have seemed like forever.

Nice job! The no blood thing has got me baffled to. I wonder if BH has the projectiles moving a little to fast?

You know, I get that a lot! I think I meet the state requirements for myself and everyone else I hunt with! I have a parka with a small orange vest pinned to it, but I always have this underneath in case I get hot. I don't like having to screw with that vest if I take the parka off.

As far as the SST's go, I have always had that issue and until this deer I'd used 100gr T7 pellets with the SST's/Shockwaves. But so far I've never had one run more than 75y with an SST hole in it except for one that was clearly my fault. I made a *much* less-than-perfect shot and we never found the first drop of blood.

It's hard to change from something that groups so tight and kills deer so dead, but now that my BH209 issues are in check I think I will move on to finding a better performing yet equally as accurate bullet.
