Default What Gives

Bought a Knight Disc off a guy who says he can't get this gun to shoot. I figured I'll straighten this thing out. I own other Knights whats the problem. Well, I can't get this thing to be consistant either. One in the bull at 100yds. run a patch, next shot 6in. high. back and forth all day like that. Im about ready to wrap this thing around a tree. Using 777 loose, 300gr xtps 44cal. One thing I did notice, seems hard to load, very tight. My MK isn't tight with these same sabots. Help

Which model is it?

In my mind there are two a 3 things that might cause the problem you ar talking about, from fit in the stock to loose sights either scope or open sights... Even a fouled bore, fouling caught behind the lands you can not see or feel.... and I gues i really should also include the sabot and bullet combination - but that is kinda down the list...

Suggestion - give up on the 100 yards and concentrate on 25 or 50 yard till you one hole ragged groups.

I would inspect the end of the barrel. If the is any off center, out of square or a nick or gouge where it can affect the gas release as then bullet or sabot exits then you have located your problem. An other possibility is an uneven bore. Does the sabot slide down the bore smoothly when you are loading?

After I clean the barrel I can see an area about 4inches up from the breech plug that looks like something is on the barrel. As for smooth loading, it feels smooth then in some spots feels like its dirty and it gets snug.

You might get some JB's Bore Paste and rub the bore out with it. Might take a bunch of strokes to get it down though.

Another thing, which nobody these days like to do is to boil the barrel out... this removes or loosens all fouling for easy removal. Just pour boiling water down from the breech down through the bore. Place a wash rag on the floor of the shower and the muzzle on the wash rag, this will hold the water in the barrel longer as let the heat work. If you do this make sure that after the treatment you have dry patches and a rod ready to dry the bore. If this is a blued gun you will get some 'flash rust' just work though it to get the bore dry.

Lee also brought up a great point - check the crown of the barrel on the muzzle - a worn, nicked, or damaged crown can easily lead to your problem.

My Rem 700 did the same thing to me.After much cussing and hair pulling, and some help from my friends, found out it was plastic fouling build up.Used Hoppe's copper and plastic bore cleaner. It took a lot of cleaning, but finally got back to accurate shooting. One thing,if you use a brass bore brush, this stuff will eat it up.

Chasam60 went right to what I think might in the end be your problem... rather using the solvents - the boiling water will melt and loosen the sabot fouling and what doesn't fall off will be hanging there to be brushed off.
