It was a kinda an ugly day... but rifle season ends Wednesday - I really needed to get out and sight this MK-85 in for ML season. So I packed stuff up and headed to the farm.
It was a bit foggy in town but as i was heading out of town it was getting a lot more foggy, by the time I got to the farm it was difficult to see much more than 75 yards. For those that have experianced it, in the draw at the farm and looking up into the fields - it was a 'white out'. I put the target out @ 25 yards and walked some clay pigeons out to 50 -60 & 75 yards. I thought standing those bright orange birds in the snow - they should not be a problem to see...
they were - even @ 50 you could just barely see the two birds.
This picture kinda gives you an idea of what is was like. The target is at 25 yard and if you look up and about 11:00 from the target you can see the pop marks where I picked off the birds. Those pop marks are the 50/60 yard birds - you can not see the 75 yard pop marks in this picture.
The mission I was after was to sight the new Williams peep site in and get some velocities. The target is ugly but when I finally figured out how to move the sight correctly thing went along OK (yes I read the directions @ home and no I forgot to bring them to the shoot - it took me awhile but I got it figured out)
At 25 yards - when I got close to the bull with a couple of shots - thought I would be close enough to take the 75 yard shot. Not even close.... way high... So I went back to the paper and moved things down to get POI and POA at or near the same spot. This worked very well out to 75 yards... put the bird on top of the front sight and everything fell into place. I ended up shooting 10 birds at various ranges.
The gun is just a great shooter - I should have got one years ago. Even shooting caps, and I shot close to 30 shots today - the mess in the breech never really go that bad.

All in all it was a great day and the gun is ready for ML season - starting 12/2...
