Default Bang Flop Sow

Got a sow this evening. Went to the stand where we have a hog problem. Hog problem is much bigger than we thought. Seven adult hogs and about 25 pigs came to the feeder.

Picked a nice clean looking sow that was standing broadside and fired. The sow fell and kicked around for about 45 seconds before lying still. She was hit low just behind the shoulder. The bullet shredded the heart and lungs.

Friends and myself are having a unique problem: We are having trouble giving away hogs. Deer gun season is in and the butchers will not take hogs. Got to skin this one and cut it up for the freezer tomorrow.

Would like to pose my deer and hogs in nice short grass with no blood but there is never enough time.

Gun: TC Encore .50
Scope: Zeiss 4X32
Bullet: 250 grain Shockwave in black sabot
Powder: 100 grains of 3F pinnacle
Primer: Winchester shotgun

Well pork is pork. I would rather have a pig then about anything else. I love good pork. But I can understand the butcher's problem also. When butchers are cutting deer, I was told they have to steam clean and sterilize the entire shop before they can go back to cutting pork and beef.

The guy I was talking to today told me that the local meat cutter wants $75.00 to butcher a deer and $85 if you want the hide and $100 if you want him to cape it. I could not believe that. Of course I've butchered my own pork, beef, deer, chickens, you name it for so long that I never thought people paid that kind of money to have it done. Now that is cut, wrapped and frozen, but how much is three rolls of freezer paper?

Congratulations on the hog. Some day I have to hunt those things. Wild I mean. I have shot my share of domestic hogs.

We just got through skinning and cutting up that sow. The bullet was fired from a stand about 14 feet off the ground. The bullet entered low just behind the right leg and exited through the off side leg leaving a 3/4" hole.

Sounds like the Shockwave did real good then. Beside taking the hog of course. It sounds like a good wound channel.
