Default 777 3f in sidelocks

I have never shot the 3f form of 777 out of any guns. Have shot it in 2f form out of inlines. my 50cal hawken loves pyro p, but I have problems finding it in my area.

any problems setting it off with #11's?

I have picked up jars and seen where they had C&B loads, don't remember seeing any rifle loads.

3f or 2f of 777 makes no matter. You will get more velocity out of the 3f version.

Used the FFF 777 in derringers, pistols, rifles... #11s fire it up just fine. If anything, you should get faster/better ignition with the finer grade.

It will work fine. But things to watch for...

make sure that bore is bone dry before loading. Slap the lock to knock some of the powder into the drum/bolster. Then there will be no problems.

If you have to swab in the range, be careful. Even traditional rifles can and do develop crud rings. I swab with isopropyl alcohol straight up in my traditional rifles in the winter. Then I make sure to run a couple of dry patches.

Some rifles like the 3f and some don't. All you can do it try.

Corey

I use T7-3f all the time in my hunting sidelocks + use a #11 amg cap - that is important. As Dave said make sure you tap the powder out over and under the nipple.

I have not got T7-3f to work with a PRB very well even if I install a treated wonder wad between between the powder and the patch. But, the 3f heat is so intense it still burns the patch out from under the ball. That is just my experiance....

I have hunted with 3f in below zero weather and have not had a problem. But, if you are concerned you can do the old Jim Shockey trick and wrap a hand warmer over and arond the barrel at the breech to keep the powder warm.
