It was a miserable night last night. The area was overan by some tremendous winds. Just south of here they recored wind gusts to 86 mph, we did not reach that high here in Moscow, they they are reporting winds in the 50's. It lasted most of the night - and then this morning - no electricty for most of the morning.
Since there was not much else to do with no electricy - I decided to do some on the newly aquired MK. I push the front out of the ramp and installed a fiber optic pin. Then I put a fiber optic on the rear just for drill. Even though the there is very little light in the house and it really does not light up the fiber optics - they are far easier to see (for blind me) than the factory sights.
I did end up calling Williams Sights and order a rear receiver peep sight, a .290N Fiber Optic Front sight and a Fire Sight Hood to go on the existing ramp. I think the will really make a big difference in my ability to use open sights.
Next thing... Flounder had post some MK pictures and I really liked his laminate thoumb hole stock MK. So I decided... what the heck and went to gun cabinet, stripped the thumb hole off the 52, re-installed the factory stock on it. Took the stock off the MK and dropped it in the thumb hole stock. It fit perfectly although I do not have a bolt handle to drop in the slot or a bolt realease screw - other than that nice fit and I really like the looks of it.
This is really a nice rifle to handle and pack... Here is the gun weight...
Really looking forward to shooting this again when the new sight system gets here....
