Default bad morning of hunting

headed about 4am, stopped and got some drinks. off to the area I was going to hunt, first time there. on the way, I almost hit an deer. when I got there had such an bad time getting gear on I froze my hands and could not hold on to anything. ended up miss judging an incline, ended going up 55degree incline. that was fun, waited still the sun was up and headed back to my truck. got back to the truck took my hip pack off, my knife that jess (my wife) gave me the first christmas together was missing, went looking for it. but up the mountain did not find it. only back up I had was an s&w spec op tanto and an box cutter.

I ended up coming home to find my other large cheap knife and to regroup a little.

Ya just never know, you may find it someday. Once I lost a (Mini-Mag) Flashlight, found it 3 years later in the woods and it still worked! Another time I lost My Favorite Glass Box Call while Turkey Hunting, about 5 years later as it was just starting to get light out while I was sitting next to a Tree while Spring Turkey Hunting I heard a Gobble, I reached for my call and got it, when I looked at it I had to take a double take, it was'nt the Call I reached for but the one I lost years ago, the one I had set on the ground in the Dark to use was right next to it and I never saw it. Glass Call and Striker were as I had left them and were in perfect condition.
So dont give up, you just never know.

Gee whiz Corey!!!!

You are making me fell bad for you... but at least you got to go hunting this morning - I am still stuck here at the house trying to clear up some projects.... a few of them are mine, but most are things Terry wants done SOON!

And Breechplug is right - i was hunting across the McCall property a couple of weeks ago and there laying in the game trail was my mesh turkey mask that I had lost two years ago.... and what was really good!!! now i knew I wasn't lost - i had been there before... Picked up the mask brought it home washed it up - good as new and I am using it again this season...

Well I had a sort of fantastic day today (Nov 6). Got to my stand before light. Heard something walking around and trying to locate what and where it was got busted by a deer. All I saw was a white tail running thru the woods in the pre dawn light. About 9:45 I caught movement to my right in time to se a big buck running in my direction at about 50 yds. But before I could grab the bow off the bow hook he slammed on the brakes, wheeled around and ran back the way he came to about 35 yds. By this time I was drawn and waiting. But when he turned broadside and I released the arrow he was on such high alert that he ducked down at least a foot and the arrow flew right over his back. I probably should have left him walk or at least waited for him to calm down a bit (wish I was using my ML). About 45 mins later a 6 point snuck up behind me and also picked up my scent. Damn wind was shifting in all directions today - and always seemed to have deer coming downwind of me. But the day aint over yet. Went out in the afternoon and had a 4 pt (long spikes and brow tines) come in and dance around for about 15 mins. Of course - he wasn't legal. Then right at 6:15 just about quitting time I see the outline of a deer about 75 yds out. As it started getting closer, it turned and pralleled me getting no closer than 60 yds. But I thought the one I missed in the morning was big!? This guy was even bigger. In the fast fading light I could see his white rack and long tines. Bugger walked right up the trail I walked in on and probably right past my truck. At my age I can't hear as good as I used to and I am hunting too close to the highway to use any amplifying devices (the road noise is deafening when using them). And the leaves are wet from the rains making matters worse.
But it was one hell of a day for sure. Even if I didn't get anything.
