New to muzzleloaders.

Well im buying my 1st muzzleloader tomorrow. Ive settled on a CVA Wolf .50 cal. Any advice or info on this particular gun or about muzzleloaders would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

If its the newest model with the quick release breach plug you should be pretty happy for awhile. I liked the way they handled and shouldered better than the earlier model. Trigger is better also.

I will let the other guys handle the load details but within the recommended load data it should shoot well with 250gr to 300gr bullets. GoldDots in 50 packs and Harvester sabots loose 50 packs are the cheapest way to start and very effective.

The reason i said "for awhile" is you will end up with a few once bitten.

I have the earlier model, and love it! Hunted 2 years with it, and have taken 2 deer with it. My load of choice is a 295 grain HP Powerbelt, with 80 grains of 777 powder.

Go to CVA's website and watch their instructional videos. They go over the basics of loading, cleaning, shooting, etc.
