Default Hunting the Wrong Spot

Went up in the hills hunting today, and never saw a thing. After i left this morning, wife say this fella came into the yard with 3 doe, and was sniffing, and chasing them around.

It never does seem to fail. In the wrong place at the wrong time. Good luck you guys.

sounds like some of the luck I've had, The thing to remember about hunting is that it can go from terrible (although I would never describe time in the woods as terrible, extreemly trying maybe) to WOW in less than 5 sec.

How many of you have went Hunting and while you were in your Stand the Big Buck was by or ran by your Truck? It seems every time a Deer runs through my yard Im not ready for him. I once watched for 3 Days a Big 11 Pointer eat Apples from My Apple Tree in My Yard and he was only 30 yards from me........it was still Dark, by the time it got light out he was long gone and hiding in a 50 acre patch of Impenatrable Red Brush,,,,,,followed his tracks in the Snow.

I don't have any trail cams so when I don't see anything, I don't feel like I'm in the wrong place at the wrong time, I just feel like I'm in the wrong place, period! There's a man who rents the house on the property I hunt, and he's mentally disabled. He always asks me if I saw anything (mostly after scouting, only been able to hunt once since the opener), and after I say "no", he says, more often than not, "I saw two deer...a buck and a doe...walk right over there!"

Now I don't have to tell you that after hearing that more than once, I have my doubts...that it's something he just says. Of course, if I believe him and set up in that area, nothing will come. If I don't set up, he'll have been telling the truth.

By the way, that's a strange-looking rack on that buck!

That there is a 3 point mule deer. Generally a mature mule deer is a 4 point. This one has been around here for ............maybe..........5 year. He always makes a 3 point every year. One year, when he was younger, and smaller, he stood right in front of the lit window in the picture with just one antler. Sister in law and fiance' saw the picture we took of him staring into the dining area at us, and they wandered the streets, and managed to find the drop. We still have it. I find that i like the way a big 3 point looks, compared to the normal 4 point. He is a real nice looking fella.

Its been a tough season for me to. I manged to get a doe with a bow in the early season, since then been looking for horns. Last week bucks started moving around looking for does, at least according to my game cams. Seems like when I hunt one stand the bucks show up at another one. Had 2 nice bucks chasing does on my creek stand while I sat up on top the hill and saw nothing. Sooner or later I hope we can cross paths. Hunted this morning for a few hours, had a nice light rain and looked like the perfect morning seeing how we are so dry here, but didnt see a darn thang. Oh well try again this weekend.
