Default Lyman peep came in, slight problem.

Well I almost cancelled bowhunting yesterday when the peep sight came in. i wanted to get it mounted and start shooting the White, but I decided to go ahead with the days plans and do it later. So I got home after dark and took the White I got from Doc White and proceeded to mount the Peep sight. The only problem was the stock came up to the holes on the side of the receiver. The only way to mount it would be to trim the stock down a little. I decided not to do that ( least wise not yet), so I got the White that came from a forum member and checked the holes on it. They looked higher , so I decided to put the peep on it instead. I managed to mount it without any trimming of the stock. I figure it should shoot good too, I just kinda wanted to try the one from Doc because he rebuilt it and accurized it just before sending it to me. It is raining and windy at the moment but hopefully later today I can get some shooting in and see how it does. I plan on just trying 70 gr 777and 70 gr select with 460 gr bullshops to see if I can get some POI's at 50 and 100 yards to start with. Then later I will work up a more accurate load and work my way out to 150 yards. I will keep you posted on how it goes. Right now I just want to get it on paper and have a little fun.

From what I have seen some of those stocks are trimmed to take that peep sight and some aren't. I have also heard of people grinding a little bit off the bottom of the peep so they will work. I can send you a pic of the stock that has the slight notch in it for the lyman site if you want.
Good Luck Shooting,
Art

That would be good. A picture is worth a thousand words, right? I will trim it away eventually I think.

Here is a pic Chet. It shouldn't take much.

Hey Chet, I don't see any problem removing a small amount of material from the stock. It definately won't hurt accuracy and will not deter from the value of the rifle. From the pic Flounder posted, It looks like just a few careful passes with a file will do the trick nicely.
