wow, very nice! A lot of material to remove but with some rasps and files you'll get it into shape.

I always have wondered if a belt sander would work for roughing out a stock?

plan is router, sanding belt on large areas and some use of drill mounted rasp.

most likely won't be started on until after christmas. gives me time to learn wood carving.

i'd get some wood working movies. Thats the way i learn things like that. Just watching and observing things. Im lousy camp fire talk i guess you could say

Corey there are alot of guys who will turn that down for you for not too bad of a price. Do a search and you will find alot of guys who can rough it out for you with a duplicating machine. Tom.

Tom,

I am really on an tight budget, in fact I should not of bought the stock but I could not turn down the price I got it for (just under $28 shipped). I was ask at my favorite gunshop if the know any one that will do that cheap. it is going to be an father/son time, I am going to get my dad to help me.
