Default 54x458 SOCOMS and other 54cal pain

Ok OK OK and i am in pain.

Well this thing is amazing and yep i shot many rounds with 120gr charges. I nearly ran out of powder and couldnt test all the 54x50 options i brought.

First here she is with an Extreme stock. I didnt want to abuse the laminate on the sled.

90 yards because we didnt feel like sitting in the sun and there was some shade at 90.

First the good old 50-300gr FTX with a site adjustment and Rem 385gr with 110 in the upper corner.

I lightly knurled the .458SOCOMS for the Harvester 54x45 sabots. I tried it with the Spitfire 285s in both sabots but no luck.

The bullets and some used Barnes/MMP 54x50 sabots and the filthy Win209 and Wint7 primers.

Why did i knurle them. Well, they have less bearing surface and it made them fit really nice.

Maybe this nice with 110gr of BH209?

This is nicer with 120gr and recoil isnt that bad...no really it isn't.

Dirty old Win209s don't do too bad huh? I was damn proud of that group.

This was a bit more painfull and shot great. I used some extra Barnes/MMP 54x50 reds i had left over because they seem to handle heavy loads better than the purples. They need all the FPS they can get for best expansion too.

Rem 50-385gr CLHP 110gr BH209. 3 shots then an adjustment.
BULLSEYE!!! Not to mention the sub MOA 3 some.

How about with 120gr and a bit more pain?

That one gets more interesting with my other shot and one my friend took because he called me a wuss. Another SUB MOA BABY!!

After the 54cal fun we decided to have a shoot off with the Accura 45 with one of Ron's Omega type breach plugs using a PB Plat 300gr and 95gr of BH209.

My buddy Steve actually won our Accura 45 shootout and i placed a close second. He dialed in my old 54 Thunderhawk with the 50-300gr FTX and 90gr of T7 FFFG...man is that a good shooter too. The JSG got dumped after he tried the T7.

Grand finale. The top 2 shots were sight in. The bottom 4 were our little competition. 90 yards...no sled allowed. These were all off a bag.

His 15yr old grandson shot my Accura 45 and the Thunderhawk 54 really well also. He actually shot quite a few light weight 45x40 groups better than me and drilled a nice group with the Lehigh 185gr and 105gr of BH209

We verified it on the 4x8 plywood back board. He put the lower 2 into nearly the same hole.
