WOW!!!! that's a great buck. You are going to have to hunt hard to beat that one. Good luck.

Darn nice buck Frontstuffer. Is that the entrance or the exit wound seen in the picture?

Semisane, that is the exit hole.not a very good pic of that though.Exit was appox the size of a golfball or just a touch bigger than a golfball. Can't tell it in this pic but he has a split G2 on the right side looking @ him. Will try to upload a better pic of that an it may show the exit hole alittle better.

Red face

Hopefully I will take his brother this year here in Virginia. I have been in the woods last weekend and saw more deer then I have seen in a while this early. We have bow season going on right now. Now for the news. I arrowed a nice large doe at 26 yds. and got a good through in through. Plenty of blood on the arrow, but no blood on the ground. Went back to camp and got a meal and went back out with a few friends to look for her, but found nothing again. In hind sight, I should have waited till morning, because I think we kicked her up from a bed and that was a mistake.

Went back in the am and didn't find her. This is the first deer I have lost during bow season and it feels lousy! It makes me feel bad and am wondering if I should hang up the crossbow.

rafsob, we've all been there Im sure at one time or another. I personally know the feeling and it's one you dont forget, sometimes it happens to the best of us and all we can do is try and do as good as were suppos-to next time. Try not to let it get to you or it'll mess with your mind the next time you go to Draw your Bow or shoot your ML.
Back Home Im considered one of the Best Deer Tracker's around and when there's someone with a question about a hit or in need of helping find a Deer I and another one of my Hunting Buddies are called, and if the Deer is down we'll find it, if it's wounded we'll see it and if it's never to be found we'll tell em. Most times when it's wounded we'll get it.
But Always on an Iffy shot WAIT, no matter how bad you want to go look, WAIT, then WAIT More. More Deer would be found Dead Laying in there Bed if People would just Wait for the Deer to expire. Once you go after it and Jump it from it's Bed it can go along way.
I wish you the Best and Dont give up your Crossbow, it happens, just use this as a Learning Experience and the next time things will work out better.

rafsob, sounds like u may have hit the deer in a part where maybe some muscle or fat are partially blocking the holes,or ur shot could've been alittle high.i do agree with you it can really tear you up in a situation like that,i have had experienced situations like that but none recent......best of luck to you this year an more importantly be safe,.........i am watching 2-3 VERY NICE mature bucks here in the mountains, have fingers crossed an hope to have an exciting year.
