Default Accura V2 or Omega?

I've pretty much narrowed it down to an Accura V2 with a black thumbhole/stainless or a stainless Omega with a laminate stock. I'm kind of leaning towards the Omega but am having a really tough time deciding. I really like a thumbhole stock, and I think the break action and quick release breach plug would make cleaning at least somewhat easier. On the other hand I don't know the Omega is that hard to clean. Which one to get?

In my mind the wood stock of the Omega is better than the plastic stock of the Accura.

The rubber inserts in the V2 stock make for a pretty nice feeling plastic stock.

If you are going to use a scope, the break action is easier to prime than the falling block.

The Accura trigger has a very very little creep, whereas the Omega trigger breaks clean.

Cleaning the Omega is not an issue, and cleaning ease should not enter into your choice between these two rifles.

If you plan to use BH209, the Omega has 100% reliable ignition, whereas there have been several posters that have mentioned the Accura, has ignition issues. This wouldn't affect my decision, because i believe the QRBP of the Accura, can be readily modified to ignite BH209 reliably.

Most importantly, you need to put your hands on both rifles, and shoulder them, before you make a decision.

Myself, i like them both.

I have both, The Omega and the Accura V1. They are both fun to shoot and easy to clean and both are scoped. When I go hunting the Accura wins hands down for me but that is my personal chaoice due to fit of the rifle to me. I also use BH209 in both guns and have had no misfires with either. Accura has the original breech plug and I have had no hangfires or no-fires using BH209 in it.

I believe either one would be a good choice depending on how much money you have to spend.

Good luck on your decision.

I have to hunt with open sights, so that takes care of that. Whatever I get I have to be out the door for $400. I'm going to run some errands this afternoon. Perhaps I'll have to detour to Cabelas.

had an omega, had 3 Accuras but am down to only 1 and also have the V2.

Accura is much easier to take down and clean, trigger guard is big enough for a gloved finger, hammer spur is also nice, the rubberized stock and rubber grip panels make for a real solid hold. I didnt think i was going to like the rubber but after getting an Apex, its really high up on my list of things that i do like about it.

QRBP works fine either in factory form with BH209 or just by adding western powders recommended .035"flash hole.

None of my Accura triggers had any creep in them. All are light and crisp. Some times that creepy feeling is due to all of the grease protection they had inside the guts. Very thick and nasty stuff.

open sights, there you have it, Accura is probably the most comfortable rifle i have with open sights. My omega sights were so out of wack, i was shooting 7-8" high @ 50 yards and no replacement sights from tc would help with it. I wasnt about to spend another $30-$50 on a $400 rifle.

I'm going to agree with Ron on this one. Go shoulder them and see which one you think feels best to you. You're going to get responses suggesting Accura's from the CVA guys and Omega's from the T/C guys. I have a SS/ laminate Omega and personally don't care for any plastic stocks. As far as cleaning goes, the Omega may take a little extra time but I am never in a hurry to clean any rifle. It isn't like you need to give it a thorough cleaning between shots in the field anyway. I think most make to big a deal out of cleaning ease or time. I have never shot an acurra, but I have shouldered them in the store and they feel nice too. I'm a T/C man but I know the Accura is a good rifle also.

There both good guns and you will like what you end up with, it really is best to shoulder and sight at some thing, buy what fits you best with iron sights, as a lot of modern muzzle loaders are designed with a high comb for shooting a scope and do not work at all well with iron sights.

What I liked about the ACCURA V1 (as you guy's now call it) is the Bergara Barrel. That's what sold me on buying one (make that 3) As mentioned both are good MLers and in the end the Animal you Harvest had no clue weather it was with a TC or a ACCURA, all he knew was he messed up Big Time!

I made it to Gander Mtn. They had the Accura v2 and an Omega x7. Bother shouldered pretty well, so that didn't help narrow the decision down a whole lot. I like the laminate Omega a lot better than the synthetic Omega, and I think I like the laminate stock better than any of the other stocks. On the other hand, I like the break action better than the Omega action. It was really not a helpful trip at all.
