Default Rain, Lightning, Wind, Bullseye OH My!

Well I had this post all typed out and closed the window. So now I have to re type it out. So this is going to be short. First shot was pretty much a bullseye. A cold/clean barrel and thats what I want. The next two drifted to the left but thats when the wind picked up and was a constant +25MPH wind left to right. So I know that the wind had to effect those shots. Well then it started Lightning and raining. So I packed up and headed for cover. About a hour later the rain stopped but the wind was constant. Moved over to 200 yards to find out which circle on my Nikon to use. The bullets were to the left this time with the wind changing from right to left. However I found out that I need to use third circle. I was even able to a hit a metal plate at 300 yards. Took awhile to see how high I had to aim but I got it. Needless to say I probably wont shoot anything beyond 250 yards which is fine. The the final load is 90 grains of BH209, 300 grain XTP MAG and Crushed Rib Sabot. SABOTLOADER, sorry about the confusion. The sabots pedals pelled back perfectly and the bottom you can see the expansion. I just know that some people reuse them for plinking.

Amazing what a change in weather can do to the drift of a bullet. Still that is nice shooting. Good luck.

Yeah, at the 300 yard metal plate I had to aim a foot to the right to hit. You could see how far the wind was carrying the bullet. One hunting season I got within 75 yards of a deer with 50 MPH guest and missed with a 270. Wind just plays a huge factor in shooting more than what we think.

I have never shot a muzzleloader at anything more then 150 yards. One of these days I would like to try long range, but where I live there really is no long range. 300 yards... WOW!! that is out there. It takes a good shooter to shoot that far.

Out where I hunt most shots are 100 to 200 yards. I did shoot a dear at 300 yards plus but that was with a .270. Its fun at the range to shoot at the metal plate at 300. You'll here the bullet then WHAM it hits the plate. The only guns that I know that can hit that consitantly is my .270 and my M1 Garand.
