Default New Knight in the House

You know sometimes I really wonder about ME!!! Last week I purchased another Knight and all things - it is a 52 Cal, which I said all along I did not need and as I did not want the bullet - sabot limitations that go along with it...

But it is here and it is a Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation gun that was won by a non-ml hunter in Montana... it has never been shot!!! But that is not the reason I am using to justify all of this... It has a 1/26 twist rate - I really wanted that for the longer Lehigh bullets that I am using and I could even go back to a Nosler if needed and it would shoot them better.

Bullet variety.... I am justifying that by saying this is an Elk gun and I only use .458's for Elk anyway so that is right up this guns alley...

It came with a 3x9x40 Tasco Scope which will be gone tomorrow and a new Bushnell Elite 3200 DOA will be sitting on top. Also the stock will be swapped out for a thumbhole - newly done 'Snow Camo' stock.

I will switch out the Red Plastic breech plug to a Lehigh breech plug tomorrow when I clean it and treat it with Montana Xtreme BC....

Then Saturday morning - off to the farm or the rock pit... and make some noise-smoke-holes in paper and break a few clay birds and bust some Basalt rocks...

Now if the gun shoots... and what Knight DISC doesn't shoot, it will be a great Elk gun.

Any rational man knows how to rationalize. Those "something different" projects are just plain fun. Evidently you've located some sabots?

What ya` got against that Tasco scope anyway. Ought to at least give it a try. I had a 3x9x40 on my X7 for a while and it worked just fine. The only reason I changed it out was I wanted a shorter lighter scope for that little gun.

Happy shooting. I'm looking forward to the report. I was going to ask you before but I forgot, Do you have one (or more) of the faster twist .45s?

I am happy that it was you who bought another rifle and not me. You are doing so well in the collection department. I agree, I have used Tasco Scopes on Center Fire rifles for years. Although they are older then mud. Maybe thirty years ago they were made better. The ones I have have held true to countless rounds through them, been dropped, and you name it. Good glass, and tough as nails.

I can not wait for you to shoot that thing.
