I just bought another savage muzzleloader I sold my last 1. I Gave him all my load info and stuff and he lost it. i was wondering if some1 could tell me an exact load that is workin in their gun that can get me a .5 MOA? Thanks
I do want to mention the Savage is alot more consistent with BH209 then with smokeless. N110,N120,IMR4198,5744,IMR4759, dont shoot like BH209 in my Savages. Another nice thing about BH209 is loading by volume. The smokeless powders need to be measured by weight not volume.
I've not had any problems with consistency from IMR-4759 in my Savage. I can obtain this powder for $18.00 a pound and get 160 shots out of it. Compare that to BH-209 and its much cheaper to shoot. As far as weighing charges it takes me about 20 minutes to weigh my charges for the season, piece of cake, not to mention I am pushing a 300gr projectile at 2200fps. I'll take full advantage of the guns capabilities and stick with the smokeless.

I dont no why you wrote the above post, or see that anyone told you what you were doing is wrong. Any way, glad your happy.

Grouse, I was merely responding to your comments in regards to smokeless powders being inconsistent. I just wanted the original poster Hogtiming to know the advantages IMO of smokeless powders and that when the right combination is found it can be a very consistent load. He now has some good options provided by us both and that is what is most important here. Certainly did not want to cause a stir in anyway.
