Any recommendations for a load for White rifle

Well it looks like my dream of having a white is about to come true after all. Just when I had given up I get an e-mail from Doc White. He said he has a Super 91 blue in 504 M70 style safety with fiber composite stock. It is almost finished. It will come accurized ,ready to shoot and with a money back guarantee.
I figure I would probably shoot some no-excuses conicals. Any body have a preference on what performs good in your White?
I figured I would start with 80 grains of triple 7 and work my way up. I would like to shoot around 120 gr but don't know if accuracy would suffer with that hot a load. What do you think? Thanks in advance

I'm glad to see you got the White you've been wanting.
I think you might want to think about toning down your powder load. If your velocity gets too high with those big conicals you may lead your barrel up kind of bad. Some people get better accuracy seating a fiber wad above the powder when using triple 7.
Others with a lot more experience than I will chime in here but IMHO the 80 grains is more on the high end of loads than a low starting point. I have two Whites ond only have been shooting them since late last winter but somewhere between 65 and 75 grains of Triple 7 3f or Goex 3f is what has been working for me. I would love to get some Swiss Powder to try.

I have three Whites. Their favorite load is 80 grains of Triple Seven 2f and a 460 or 495 grain Bull Shop conical. I have used wad and find that with or without, the rifle flat out shoots. Is there a reason you want to push the rifle that hard? 120 grains of powder is more then doable, but the recoil could be a little stiff. With 80 grains there is no whitetail, I don't care how big, going to take a hit from that.

My .451 likes a 460 grain bullet and 70 grains of T-7 2f.

Redclub shoots his White with 100 grains of T-7 and a 460 grain I believe it is. And he's shot elk with it. Also he's shot open sights peep out to 200 yards with it.

You got a great rifle and if Doc says it will be a shooter, you can take that to the bank. In the past, when he sends you a rifle, he sends a target and a load the rifle liked.

I shoot 70-75 grains of 3f Swiss in my 5 White's. I've never been able to get acceptable accuracy shooting big conicals with 80+ grains of powder. I shoot 460gr Bullshops and Batchiefs 496gr Trashcans. The Bullshops shoot better in my guns than the No-Excuses (too loose).

I figured the 80 gr for a normal hunting load but was thinking a hotter load if I use it on a Elk hunt in Utah. I had planned on using my Hawken with the sharpshooter barrel and a 460 gr No-Excuses with 100 gr 777. , but since the White will be coming I thought about taking it instead. I want to be prepared for a long shot if need be( 175 yds) but also have the knockdown power for an Elk. I guess I will really have to wait to see what it does once it gets here. It would be really good if Doc sent a recommended load along with it. I will have to ask him. He said the gun will be ready in 2 weeks. It is going to be a long 2 weeks I have a feeling.

When I got my Gonic someone suggested that i shoot 110 grains of 777 2f and a heavy lead conical. I think they were 480 grain. That gun doesn't have much of a recoil pad on it and man I could feel it. Also I was finding little lead flakes on the patch when I swabbed and I really gave it a good cleaning to try and get all the lead out of it when I got done shooting. I really think that 80 grains would be all you would need on a Elk.

I shoot a .503/460 grain Bull Shop from mine very well. I use a .125x510 wad card under the bullet and 90 grains of T7-3f. The wad insulates the bottom of the bullet from the heat of T7 and keeps the bullet lube from contaminating the upper part of the powder load if the bullet is left in for a length of time, especially in warmer weather.

Also mine is a M97 Ultra-Mag and has the longer barrel so I burn the 90 grains no problem... the shorter Whites I think a majority of the DWB shooters are using 70 grains of real BP.

My white shoots a 370gr TC maxi ball with 100grs of pyro P really good. I've shot several deer with this load and it always performs very well.
