Default MMP Sabots and Lehigh bullets.

Saturday John and i shot some 250grn Lehigh bullets with MMP HPH 24 sabots with excellant results. The load was 110grns of BH209 with Federal 209A primers. I did take pictures on my phone but they look horrible. Also on Saturday we shot the 275grn Lehigh with the Orange .458 MMP sabot. Here again with 110grns of BH209 and Federal primers.

The results were groups resulting in right around an inch. Heck probably less to tell you the truth. All loads this weekend were with a blued 50cal Disc Elite and Lehigh conversion.

So today (Sunday) i brought my camera. The first pic is of the 185grn Lehigh with 110grns of BH209 and the Blue MMP Sabot.

The next target is with the 200grn Lehigh and the Blue MMP sabot.

The last target here was me shooting 130grns of BH209 and the 250grn Lehigh. This time i snuck in a Harvester short black sabot.

Yesterday the MMP HPH24 with 110grns of BH209 and the 250grn Lehigh shot like one hole. When we bumped that load up to 130grns it spread out to like 2.5 inches. For some reason the Harvesters seem to handle hotter loads and temps better.

All loads above were measured by volume and the rifle was scoped with a Nikon BuckMaster and warne steel rings and bases. This Blued Knight Elite shoots everything with a little effort working up a load. I feel confident to say the Disc Elites are the best Muzzleloaders Knight ever made. I hope some day they make them again in a 1/24 twist.

BTW- I should mention pretty windy both days and hot. Sunday the temps were alot better but the wind was stronger.

That is some great shooting there. Also a great rifle and scope you had. I am going to guess this was at 100 yards. So where would this bullet be back to dead center?

Here's a picture below of the .458 275grn Lehigh and the Orange .458 MMP sabot with 110grns of BH209.

Great shooting and i get similar results with the 110gr load with those sabots and bullets. My 45 and 200gr seems to need a bit more powder but the groups are ok for 100yards. I cant seem to get them to shoot as well in the 50x40 sabots but ive only tried the Harvester CRs and ive blown too many sabots. Mostly in high temps too. Im hoping the MMP blue will do better.

Oddly my best 200yard group EVER was with the 40-185 Lehigh and 100 or 110gr in my 45. i would have to look up the exact powder charge.

Yes, all groups are at 100yds. Johns hunting load is the last target above on the first page. It will stay right there for hunting season. It's about 2 inches high. As far as the other targets we dont change the scope to try other bullets. Where they hit is just fine. Just shooting for groups.

Mostly all of the targets were shot by John and his new Knight Elite.

I have had no luck with the crush rib sabots either.

I do but ONLY with the 45x40 sabot and only with the heavier charges/bullets. Upto 100gr-110gr and 200gr typical copper/lead bullets the 45x40 MMPs are much more accurate.

My problem is i have one tight bore 50 with a 1-24 twist (Pedersoli Ovation) and the 50x40 CR MIGHT be better in that rifle with 100grs. In my Knights with only 100gr they usually dont fail but accuracy isnt good either. At 110gr the 50x40 CRs have failed with any 200gr or above bullet too often.

Ive got some MMPs now for my next 50x40 range day and your results are very encouraging.

Thanks
